Dear Potential Volunteers & Sponsors,

I'm proud to be a part of an organization that can provide a fun, family-oriented experience to such a wide range of people. Whether it be Super Kids races for special needs children, new driver training sessions starting at age 6, Challenger races for those new to the sport, competitive NDR rallies (includes practice/setup days), public fun days for the whole family, Sr. Adult races for those that are still young at heart, or the fun, fast-paced "Zero" Gravity Derby (ZGD) for both kids and adults that rewards consistency over speed. Cars are provided for all events, but you can bring your own to the NDR rallies and ZGD events.

Come experience the "Thrill of the Hill" and stay involved!

Regards,
Rick Higginbotham, President
Greater Houston Soap Box Derby

Ways To Volunteer...

The best way to volunteer is to come to one of our events and help us out. Another way is to attend one of our monthly board meeting.

We Need...
Race Day Volunteers
for all of our events. No experience required. We do a basic Texas Dept. of Public Safety background check on all volunteers.

  • A great community service project for organizations.
  • Students can earn service hours while having fun.
Race Organizers/Officials to help us plan, manage, publicize and run events. Everyone is welcome to attend our Monthly Board Meetings. All meetings are open to everyone and are held the 3rd Wednesday of the month, 7 PM in Derby Barn/Office (NO meeting in December).

Our Volunteer Goals...
# 1 – Help put on a safe, fair and organized races.
# 2 – Have fun.
# 3 – Meet some nice people.
# 4 – Learn what Derby racing is about--the kids!
# 5 – Have more fun.
